Kenowa Hills Public Schools

Since 2012, Mike Burde has been the Assistant Superintendent at Kenowa Hills Public Schools (Grand Rapids, MI).  During this time, Kenowa Hills Public Schools has strategically worked to implement Competency Based systems and structures throughout the entire district.  Prior to working at Kenowa Hills, Dr. Burde served in various leadership roles at all levels (elementary, middle, high school, and district office) including teacher, athletic director, assistant principal, principal, and curriculum director.  Dr. Burde is currently the President-elect of the Michigan Association of State and Federal Program Specialists (MASFPS); an organization that supports schools and districts in the effective use of state and federal grant resources. 

Dr. Burde completed his undergraduate work at Spring Arbor University and graduate work at Western Michigan University.  His research focused on the relationship between student achievement and teacher collaboration.  In his spare time, Dr. Burde enjoys traveling and camping with his wife (Jacqlyn) and daughters (Katherine and Marilyn).
