Elementary Redesign Specialist

Tammy Mitchell is the Elementary Redesign Specialist for the Kansas State Department of Education. Tammy has been a Kansas educator and leader for 30 years. She has taught PreK and elementary grades and adults through instructional coaching and as an adjunct faculty member for Southwestern College. While working for the Kansas State Department of Education, she has led the Kansas Learning Network to provide support to Priority and Focus schools and has led the statewide Kindergarten Readiness initiative. Now, as Redesign Specialist, she works to build a system to support elementary schools as they redesign teaching and learning to provide more personalized experiences to students in a project-based or problem-based integration of core curriculum.
Tammy has a Baccalaureate degree in Elementary Education from Wichita State University, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum Leadership from Emporia State University. She is pursuing a Doctorate’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Kansas State University.
